On 23rd March 2016, 6pm-8pm at Finsbury Park Mosque there were four small group discussions about challenges facing the youth of the surrounding community. The large group was divided into EMPLOYMENT GROUPS and were asked to think about challenges in finding employment and solutions in finding employment.
Many challenges in finding employment included interview preparation, the type of language used, social stereotypes, race, gender, educational background and lack of experience. Some solutions brought up were advertising jobs on social media, more 1 to 1 support, work experience, be willing to accept voluntary work, knowing which jobs suit your skill set, and having career advisers at the local mosque that can also help with job applications.
