Muslim Welfare House provides Quran and Tajweed classes for ladies. From bigeners to level 4 where ladies can aquire an Ejaza certificate which will allow her to teach Quran to others. Monday to Sunday for two hours each evening children learn about Islam using the modern classrooms of the Muslim Welfare House Centre. Almost 250 pupils are taught a wide range of Islamic subjects, Arabic and Somali as a mother tongue.

What is Tajweed:
Tajweed (Arabic word) is the science of reciting the Qur’an in accordance with the established rules and regulations of pronunciation so that every letter is recited with all its qualities from its correct place of pronunciation.

اَفْضَلُ الْعِبَادَتِ قِرَاءَةُ الْقُرْاَن
“The best of all worship is the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.”

Program of Preparatory Year
Non Arabic Speakers

  1. Study of “Ahssan Al-Qawa’id” book.
  2. Basic Tajweed Rules like:
  • Errors in pronunciation
  • Principles of Tajweed
  • Levels of recitation
  • The basmalah and Seeking refuge
  • The Noon Sakinah and Tanween Rules
  • The Meem Sakinah Rules
  • The Ghunnah
  • The Lam Sakinah Rules

3. Helping sisters apply the Above Tajweed rules and memorise Hizb 60.

Level One (None Arabic speakers)
Academic year: 2013/2014

Aims:

  1. To teach sisters basic Arabic like:  Alphabets- Vowels-Shapes of Arabic letters in the beginning, middle and end- Naughty letters-How to form and read basic Arabic words using 3 letters and more.
  2. Basic Tajweed Rules like:
  • Errors in pronunciation
  • Principles of Tajweed
  • Levels of recitation
  • The basmalah and Seeking refuge
  • The Articulation Points of letters
  • The Noon Sakinah and Tanween Rules
  • The Meem Sakinah Rules
  • The Ghunnah
  • The Lam Sakinah Rules
  • Tafkheem and Tarqueek letters
  • Qualkala

3. To help sisters apply the previous Tajweed rules and memorise Juz’a A’mma.

Level Two (None Arabic speakers)
Academic year: 2013/2014

Aims:

  1. Review of basic Tajweed Rules like:
  • Errors in pronunciation
  • Principles of Tajweed
  • Levels of recitation
  • The basmalah and Seeking refuge
  • The Articulation Points of letters
  • The Noon Sakinah and Tanween Rules
  • The Meem Sakinah Rules
  • The Ghunnah
  • The Lam Sakinah Rules
  • Sifat al horouf
  • New topic: Al-Mudud

2. Helping sisters apply the previous Tajweed rules, revise Juz’a A’mma and memorise Juz’a Tabaraka .

Level Two advanced (None Arabic speakers)
Academic year: 2013/2014

Aims:

  1. Application of all the basic Tajweed rules
  2. Revision of Juz’a 30 and 29
  3. Memorisation of Juz’a 28
  4. Helping sisters apply the taught Tajweed rules in levels 1 and 2.

All levels are thought on the following days:

Tuesdays        from 10:00am – 02:00 am for Arabic speakers
Wednesdays   from 10:00am – 02:00 am for Non Arabic speakers
