Muslim Welfare House is pleased to be working on the recruitment of a support worker. This role is a part time position based in North London for 2 days a week (16 Hours per week)
This role requires an exceptional individual who wants to make a difference. As a support worker, you will be responsible for providing high quality admin systems and support to migrants who have difficulty in speaking English. Your role will include working one-to-one with refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants from Arab speaking countries at a time which many will find particularly difficult and distressing. We help to ensure people have choices and opportunities made available to them to find a way forward and start their lives in a new country.
You will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, advice and advocacy support for people in a range of complex and crisis related situations. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering casework and social, wellbeing and integration activities for refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in the London area and will undertake a range of duties designed to develop, maintain and promote the service.
The successful candidate will have to be fluent in English and Arabic, possess strong admin management skills, good written and verbal communication, and an understanding of the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and outstanding ability to work independently. Direct experience of providing support to refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants is essential, as is a current understanding of the legislation relating to emigration in this country. You will be required to work closely with all of the Muslim Welfare House staff and other agencies such as the Council, social services and other organisations.
