An initiative organised by the Muslim Welfare House London, to invite the local councillors and some local authorities officers to an iftar session on 18th July 2013 was highly applauded. This event gave an insight to local community about the enjoyment of breaking fast in Ramadhan.
This event was also regarded as a platform to give an appreciation to the councillors for all the cooperation and collaboration given by them throughout the years. With the recent happenings in Woolwich, MWH has received tremendous support from the local authorities and the councils to contain the surroundings and manage the situation. The iftar was attended by the Islington North MP, Mr Jeremy Corbyn, Cllr Catherine West, Cllr Richard Watts, Cllr Jilani Chowdury, Cller Mouna Hamitouche and Cllr Rakhia Ismail and Rosaline Miller Director of IFF. There were also other guests from local support police officer like Sam Cetiner, Nadia and Abdul. They have surely enjoyed the iftar session and have experienced the enjoyment of iftar with the local mosque attendees. The guests were later given a bag of information about Islam and its practices/teachings, sponsored by WAMY UK London.
This event has benefit the local community through good relationship with the local authorities. Besides giving a good insight on Islam and its teaching, it also gave an opportunity for them to experience the month of Ramadhan and how Muslim in UK cherished and celebrated the holy month.
